SPOTLIGHT

WINE ENTHUSIAST MAY 2019

92 Points - Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas Red Reserva Especial DOC Douro 2016
Old vines in the high plateau above the Douro Valley have produced a richly dense wine. Its tannins, still young, are powerful, showing strongly against the ripe black plum fruits. The wine needs to age further, so drink from 2021.”

91 Points - Pegos Claros Grande Escolha DOC Palmela 2015
Castelão is the most widely planted grape in the Setúbal peninsula, of which Palmela is a part. Here it has made a sophisticated wood-aged wine with layers of dark tannins and powerful black fruits. It's all held together by the fine juicy acidity, giving a wine that will age further. Drink from 2020.”

91 Points - Nostalgia Alvarinho Vinho Verde DOC 2017
“Alvarinho at its best in the subregion of Monção and Melgaço shines through this ripe, creamy wine. Crisp apples are lifted by a squeeze of lime while always freshened with bright acidity. The wine will be better when it softens some of its fruitiness, so drink from late 2019.”

Cheers!
