Nostalgia - Best of Vinho Verde 2012
2012-06-13

Nostalgia Alvarinho DOC Vinho Verde is produced under the supervision of the Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas producer and its winemaking team: João Silva e Sousa and Francisco Baptista. It returns to our ancestry and pay respect to the ancient winemaking traditions and techniques once used in earlier times: natural decanting, indigenous yeast, skin contact during fermentation and on lees until bottling.

This Alvarinho wine was launched in March and the international wine judges were quick to recognize its unique characteristics and high quality.

In its first vintage 2011, Nostalgia was elected by a panel of international judges as Best of Vinho Verde 2012 - an international category promoted by the Vinho Verde Region Comission for more than 25 years.
These were the judges: Christine Austin - United Kingdom - Wine Writer (Yorkshire Post and others); Elin McCoy - USA - Wine Writer (Bloomberg News and others); Evan Saviolidis - Canada - Sommelier / Wine Educator / Wine Writer; Hans Babits - Switzerland - Chef & Wine Expert; Luís Lopes - Portugal - Editor Revista de Vinhos; Marthe Paola Torkildsen - Norway - Sommelier / Wine Educator; Mauro Marcelo Alves - Brazil - Editor Vinhos Gula / Luxo.iG; Sebastian Bordthäuser - Germany - Sommelier / Wine Writer; Susanne Berglund-Krantz - Sweden - Sommelier / Wine Educator / Wine Writer.

More also, it is a Silver Medal at Decanter World Wine Awards and Bronze Medal at the International Wine Challenge London.

Nostalgia presents a yellow lemon core and very pronounced aromas, dominate by grapefruit and notes of mineral. Well structured but surprisingly fresh white wine due to high quality acidity with an extremely long and lingering finish. This wine pairs well with Mediterranean cuisine, based on fish and seafood.
