Most chardonnay’s are matured or fermented and matured in oak. So the taste of chardonnay is sometimes mixed up by the taste of oak. Chardonnay is also famous as a delicate base for sparkling wines and is one of the three varieties used in the most famous sparkling wine Champagne.
